Our History (Sabah)
Our story and legacy in shaping the history of KCCI.

Seated from Left - Right
Started with a shared vision over breakfast in 1995.
How it all began?
In early 1995, three entrepreneurs, namely Marcus Makin Mojigoh (Datuk Dr.), Ladislaus Maluda (Datuk), and the late Michael Kubot, often met in the early mornings for breakfast and coffee at Donggogon Café. During several of these breakfast sessions, discussions evolved around finding ways to encourage more entrepreneurs from the Kadazandusun community to venture into business.
During these sessions, a few more Kadazandusun entrepreneurs, all from the Penampang District, joined for breakfast. It was during these gatherings that the idea of forming the Kadazandusun Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sabah, or simply KCCI, was proposed.
As a result of this, a Protem Committee was established.
The Protem Committee members were as follows:

The Recognition of KCCI
Our story
- Seeking Support and Blessings
They then met with YB Tan Sri Bernard G. Dompok, who at that time was the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department and President of the PDS Party, with the purpose of informing him and seeking his blessing to establish the KCCI Chamber.
- Endorsement from Leadership
YB Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, proudly and willingly, gave his blessings, encouragement, and advice to them.
- Temporary Office and Registration
This Protem Committee subsequently utilised Marcus Makin Mojigoh's office in Donggongon as the temporary address for the KCCI Chamber. The registration process of this Chamber began, and it was officially registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on 15 February 1996.
- Introducing KCCI to the Government
Once again, this Protem Committee met with YB Tan Sri Bernard G. Dompok to inform him about the registration of the KCCI Chamber. YB Tan Sri advised that the Committee Members (KCCI Chamber’s Supreme Council) make courtesy visits to all Cabinet Ministers of Sabah and the Malaysian Federation to introduce the KCCI Chamber and to seek recognition that the KCCI Chamber is specifically representing Kadazandusun entrepreneurs.
- Government Recognition and Engagement
The Federal Government, as well as the Sabah State Government and its agencies, have recognised the KCCI Chamber and consistently invite it to forums, discussions, and the Bumiputra Economic Congress organised by both the Federal and State Governments.
- Expanding Membership
The Supreme Council members of the KCCI Chamber have diligently expanded this Chamber by increasing the number of its members.
- A Political Milestone
During the PDS era, the establishment of the KCCI Chamber was one of the party's achievements in its manifesto.
